The film was inspired by environmentally-conscious home designer Anthony Brenner’s story to find the healthiest building material available to build a safe indoor environment for his young daughter Bailey, who has a rare genetic disorder and sensitivity to synthetic chemicals. Anthony made headlines in USA Today and CNN when he completed “America’s First Hemp House” for the former mayor of Asheville, North Carolina. Anthony’s story is one of the inspirational tales profiled in this film that provides viewers with a new connection to the issue of toxicity in human habitats and how hemp can play a role in innovative healthy green building solutions. Linda Booker, Filmmaker, Bringing It Home

Bringing It Home is the second feature documentary produced and directed by Linda Booker, owner of By the Brook Production based in North Carolina. Linda completed the Certificate in Documentary Arts from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University in 2005. Bringing It Home won the Jury Award at this year’s Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival and Best Environmental Film at Sedona International Film Festival. Bringing It Home has been part of a national outreach campaign to help educate consumers and lawmakers about hemp’s uses for healthy, sustainable products for nutrition, construction materials, bio-composites, textiles, body care and more and why policy change is needed to bring this beneficial crop back to all of America’s farmers for a greener future. By the Brook has produced videos for the City of Durham and Clean Jordan Lake on water protection issues in addition to work for numerous NC non-profits.

For over 17 years, San Francisco-based attorney Patrick Goggin has advocated for the re-legalization of U.S. hemp farming. He served as local counsel in the early 2000s when the hemp industry soundly defeated the DEA’s attempts to ban hemp foods. Since 2006, Mr. Goggin has sat on Vote Hemp's (the industry's advocacy wing) board of directors helping to guide hemp re-legalization efforts nationally. Undeterred by three vetoes, in 2013, he led the effort to shepherd Senator Mark Leno’s hemp bill through the California Legislature and obtain Governor Brown’s signature. Today, Mr. Goggin is leading efforts to implement hemp research projects in California after the passage of the 2014 Farm Bill authorized hemp research. He has a solo law practice and resides in San Francisco with his wife and 12 year-old son.
